Wherever I travel, I always find myself looking for Filipino and Asian food. ![]()
My food search usually goes something like this:
Filipino food first
Chinese food next

Then Japanese, Korean, Indonesian, Thai or Malaysian
I enjoy all kinds of cuisine, but these are the flavors I naturally look for when I’m away from home. ![]()
Maybe growing up near Binondo in Manila, the world’s oldest Chinatown, had something to do with it. Chinese food has always been part of my food memories.
And later, I lived in Shanghai, where I studied Mandarin Chinese and Chinese Studies. ![]()
So wherever I go, I will almost always look for Filipino food first, then Chinese food. It’s practically part of my travel itinerary. ![]()
This time, I visited T&T Supermarket at West Edmonton Mall. ![]()

T&T isn’t just a place to grab a meal. It’s an Asian supermarket with a huge selection of Asian groceries, fresh produce, seafood, ready-to-eat food, sushi, desserts and so much more.
For lunch, I tried the Beef Brisket & Tendon Noodle Soup with Rice Noodles. ![]()
The beef brisket, tendon and vegetables were really good, and I enjoyed the comforting soup. The rice noodles weren’t quite my personal favorite, but with so many choices at T&T, there’s definitely plenty more for me to try next time! ![]()
And of course, while I’m here in Canada, I’m also continuing to connect with people who love the Philippines and may want to explore opportunities back home. ![]()
